Arogya Raksha Yojana Health Micro Insurance Plan (ARYHMIP)

The Arogya Raksha Yojana Health Micro Insurance Scheme continues to enroll more than 100,000 people in Karnataka. It is interesting to note that almost 70% of our members have been enrolling with the scheme for more than seven years and 90% of these members pay for their own insurance. These are encouraging numbers – in addition to it being a significant endorsement from our communities, these numbers also tell us that people are beginning to understand the necessity to protect themselves against catastrophic illnesses.

This year our scheme facilitated almost 600 surgeries, including 100 cardiac procedures and 150 OB/GYN procedures like deliveries and hysterectomies.

To facilitate automation and a scaling up of the enrolment process, we have advanced from a paper-based, manual member enrolment system to a mobile phone-based enrolment solution. This shift has considerably reduced errors during transmission and related loss of data. Data captured on the mobile phone is transmitted directly to a centralized server.

New Product for the School and College Students:

1. Sum insured: Rs. 10,000 per year for any hospitalization
2. Rs. 1,00,000 per year accident benefit
3. Premium: Rs. 500 per student per year
4. Method of payment: to be added to annual fees
5. Customer size: approximately 50,000 students from Belgaum and Mangalore districts.
